OFFICE OF THE COMMONWEALTH’S ATTORNEY
COMMONWEALTH OF KENTUCKY
30th JUDICIAL CIRCUIT
THOMAS B. WINE, COMMONWEALTH’S ATTORNEY
Media Release: November 8, 2017
Tom Wine to seek re-election as Commonwealth’s Attorney
LOUISVILLE, KY — This afternoon Tom Wine formally filed for re-election as the Commonwealth’s Attorney for Jefferson County. Wine, a Democrat, has filed in the Democratic primary election for this office which will be held in May 2018. The general election will be held in November 2018. Wine was first elected as Commonwealth’s Attorney in 2012.
After filing his papers, Wine stated: “The past five years have been both challenging and rewarding. My decision to resign from the Kentucky Court of Appeals in January 2012 to seek the position of Jefferson County’s top felony prosecutor was not an easy one. While I greatly respect the hard work of our trial and appellate judges, it was my love of advocacy that motivated me to re-enter the arena of trial work. Today that desire to serve the public as a prosecutor still drives me. It has been an honor to work to protect the citizens of our community and I look forward to being able to do so for another six years.”
