COMMONWEALTH VS. GAGE LEVIATHAN LEWIS
JEFFERSON CIRCUIT COURT CASE NO. 24CR1418
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (8/6/2026): Louisville’s Chief Prosecutor, Commonwealth’s Attorney Gerina D. Whethers, shared today that following a jury trial, GAGE LEVIATHAN LEWIS was found guilty on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, on the charge of murder. The jury in the case recommended a penalty of 20 years in total on Thursday, August 6, 2026. A formal sentencing hearing is scheduled for LEWIS on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, in Jefferson County Circuit Court, Division Four.
No one should fear going shopping and facing gun violence. Our city must pause and rethink our actions before a tragedy occurs and lives are lost. We need a safer community for everyone. We will keep aggressively fighting these cases, just as we promised the public.

The defendant is not eligible for probation or shock probation, and must serve 85 percent of his sentence prior to being eligible for parole consideration.
The jury found LEWIS guilty after hearing witness testimony and evidence of the following summary of events:
On May 18, 2024, inside the Speedy Mart at 4406 Taylor Boulevard, the defendant, Gage Lewis, intentionally shot and killed Dion Smith, Jr.
Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorneys Elizabeth Jones Brown and Cameron Lyons were the prosecutors on this case.
